Both old and new, Germany combines poignant views of its past through the city’s historic buildings and museums, while its modern outlook shown by its culture, galleries, restaurants, and nightlife.

To many, Germany is a transit country. Efficient and boring, but fortunately equipped with excellent highways in order to quickly take away. It’s an unfair attitude.

Germany is a great destination in itself. In the south are the Alps, with its winding trails and frosty hillsides with great alpine skiing. Munich, Bavaria’s capital city, is not only the Oktoberfest, but is also exciting heavy Central European history (many old houses) and modern youthful culture (many new clubs and bars). In the south, Germany is also isolated monasteries, frothy rural breweries and Petite lakes that makes you at any time expect a the German innovation, will show up behind the next sugar-loaf-shaped hill.

Then there is of course Berlin, the city where the 1900s disaster plan was and who was awarded and became a symbol of the Cold War. Berlin has stood up and regained much of the shape it had before the last century’s misery began, and more. Since reunification, Berlin has regained its role as Northern Europe’s number one cultural center. For young creative people around the world, Berlin has almost the same status as New York. This is where the latest happening in music, art, design and architecture. But forget all means not the other metropolises. Although Hamburg, Cologne and Frankfurt are now causing headlines in lifestyle magazines worldwide.

If you go south, do not miss to stay at some of Germany’s all the little medieval villages and towns: Celle, Freiburg, Bamberg and others. Here is the German tradition and beauty, half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets, horse carriages creaking, huge schnitzels and hearty beer. Close but still far from effective but a bit dull motorway.
